Lapland

The last wilderness

of Europe

The Finnish Lapland, which is called “the last wilderness of Europe”, offers infinite opportunities for fly fishermen. In fact, this special geographic area has a large number of different waterways: mountain streams and deep valley rivers, or lakes where you can fish from the bank or by boat, with an area big up 95 sq. miles. In summer the polar day is endless, which allows to stay on the river 24 hours. The air in Lapland is considered to be the cleanest air in all Europe. The rivers have a very special profile: even the deep valley rivers have wide bottoms and low waters and fly fishing is very exciting. It is a real dry fly paradise destination.

Graylings, brown trouts, pike and huge lake trout are the species that you can catch in these waters of rare and untouched wild beauty. In this wide territory human presence is almost non-existent; the water is pure and the fishing pressure is slight. The huge wild brown trouts up to 30-35 inch are rising along the finnish rivers from the big Russian lakes for further spawning.

Apart from fly fishing, the Finnish Lapland offers unique possibilities for exploring the wild nature and enjoy the local attractions – national parks, wild bears, reindeer farms, Arctic circle hiking, water sports, sauna and hot baths, Santa-claus village and many more.

Lapland will be the next World Fly Fishing Championship destination in 2021.
